THE PROTOCOL

A Three-Engine Agentic Solution to Healthcare's Most Complex Data Problem.

Superscript spent 3.5 years in R&D building Healthcare's First Pricing Protocol.

ABE (Algorithmic Balancing Engine)

Financial, actuarial models built on adjudication outcomes to resolve payer/plan bundling logic: multiple-procedure reduction and the professional/technical split. Over 1TB+ of data ETL per practice.

AIR (Accessing Insurance Resources)

Interprets X12 271 eligibility responses across EB segment hierarchies and free-text MSG fields using LLMs to normalize payer coverage logic complexity.

ART (Adjudicating Real-time Transactions)

Reads every 835 remittance and maps each pricing discrepancy, including payer-repriced lines. 8,700+ weekly adjustments generate labeled training examples with unambiguous outcome signals, so the system self-corrects without human annotation or reward model drift.

ANONYMIZED SUPERSCRIPT CUSTOMER DATA · CY2025

The office visit collects. The surgical episode does not.

A 40-provider orthopaedic group, the year before Superscript, across 79,169 claims. The surgical episode fragments into separately adjudicated lines and loses 2.8 times as much as the office visit on the same dollars.

SERVICE LINE · RANKED BY YIELDLOST PER $100K
Every figure normalised to $100,000 of patient responsibility. Ten mapped lines carry of the lost per $100K; the rest is unmapped. Two or more surgical codes collect 47.56%; professional component only, 36.63%.
FOR PRACTICES

The EHR Browser

Your front desk captures the full patient cost-share in one click, at the moment they're most likely to pay.

Embedded in your EHR

Integrates directly into existing workflows. No change management.

Optimized for coinsurance and deductible collections

Practices already collect copays over 90% of the time, but leak revenue on deductibles and coinsurance. A copay does not apply to an operation, so a surgical balance is always the second kind.

Patient yield rises to over 92% when patients see a price they can trust.

TIME-OF-SERVICE COLLECTION

The Front Desk Becomes a Check-Out Desk.

An orthopaedic visit changes in the room. The image, the injection, the brace get decided after check-in, and leave unpaid.

Repriced the moment care changes

Imaging, injections and bracing are the hardest to price and the worst to collect. Skylight prices each inside Epic, before the desk.

Collected before the door

Mailed balances recover 60–75% over 30+ days, and a surgical balance averages $204 against $61.

With Superscript · check-out at the desk
Without Superscript · the same add-ons, billed later

The same visit, two endings: $0.00 collected today, or $0.00 billed later, leaving $0.00 never paid.

FOR CONSUMERS

Price Transparency

Your public price tool, running on the engine that prices the visit.

Priced against the plan, not the standard charge

The number comes from your negotiated rate for that CPT and the patient's live benefits, so it matches what the front desk collects. A knee arthroscopy at $3,145 with $250 of deductible left and 20% coinsurance returns $829.

Meets the federal price estimator requirement

45 CFR 180.60 requires a price estimator tool for 300 shoppable services. "Estimate" is the regulation's word for the tool; what this one returns is the patient cost share the claim adjudicates to.

hss.edu tells patients today that its standard charges "do not reflect payment by insurance and health benefit plans and are not the patient's actual out-of-pocket cost." The same page would return one amount, priced at the patient's own plan.
